Business Development Manager, Down town Vancouver, Expanding Commercial General Contractor.

Our client is a large privately owned Vancouver General Contractor and Developer with a strong track record of successfully completed projects across Western Canada. They very much pride themselves on having a partnering relationship with their clients. Projects undertaken include high rise multifamily as well as commercial projects such as hotels and offices. The organization prides themselves on truly partnering with their clients and adding value during the pre construction phase. They have very robust business practices and procedures and a good story to share with prospective clients.
Your new role
The company requires a Business Development Manager to identify business opportunities, maintain relations with existing clients and track potential projects/prospects. The incumbent will be given a generous budget to allocate to marketing and a large degree of autonomy. Your primary focus will be to identify and nurture opportunities within the commercial construction sector. You will not spend a great deal of time in the office. You will be meeting with Architects and Developers and attending industry events in order to pro actively promote the company's services to prospective clients. The company is not chasing volume but would like to identify attractive opportunities with select clientele that they can execute to their usual high standards.
What you'll need to succeed
You must be a driven individual that enjoys forging new relationships. You must be a confident, articulate communicator and someone that thinks outside of the box. You will take the story of the company successes out to the greater market and ensure they are well publicised. Knowledge of the local commercial real estate sector is essential. It is likely you will have been working in a comparable BD oriented capacity or as Project Manager or Estimator for another General Contractor. You could also have been working as a Broker or another sales related role related to the real estate sector.
