About our Vancouver Office
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains, Teck's Corporate Office sits in one of Canada's most culturally diverse cities.
Surrounded by world-renowned nature and globally inspired cuisine, the office brings together many of Teck's corporate functions - all working toward Teck's purpose of providing the essential resources the world relies on.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Manger Enterprise Architecture, this person plays a critical role in supporting Teck's Architecture Review Board (ARB) and broader Enterprise Architecture function. This role translates business and technology change into structured architectural inputs, ensures LeanIX data quality as an enterprise architecture system of record. The EA Business Analyst partners with architects, domain collaborators, business partners, delivery teams, and ARB committee members to coordinate submissions, analyze impacts, standardize documentation, and publish clear architectural decisions with defined conditions, owners, and due dates. By stewarding EA workflows, data quality, and governance processes, this role helps the organization make well‑informed, scalable, and compliant architecture decisions.
Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Governance Leadership
- Serve as the operational lead for the ARB, ensuring architecture decisions are timely, well‑informed, and aligned to enterprise strategy.
- Coordinate with business partners to manage unplanned demand.
- Translate complex business and technical change into clear, decision‑ready architectural insights that enable confident leadership decisions.
- Act as the custodian of architecture decisions, ensuring outcomes are detailed in a consistent, auditable, and committed manner, with defined owners and timelines.
Architectural Insight, Analysis & Data Stewardship
- Champion LeanIX as the enterprise's primary source of truth, driving high standards for data quality, lifecycle accuracy, and meta‑model integrity.
- Partner closely with enterprise, solution, and domain architects to ensure architecture artifacts tell a coherent enterprise story.
- Analyze trends across ARB submissions to surface systemic risks, technical debt, emerging patterns, and opportunities for simplification.
- Create and evolve dashboards and analytical views that enable leadership to understand architecture health, risk exposure, and decision throughput.
- Proactively lead data‑quality improvements, influencing teams to treat EA data as a strategic asset, not an administrative task.
Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Continuously evolve ARB and EA governance processes to be lean, predictable, and value focused, balancing speed with architectural rigor.
- Leverage AI‑assisted analysis and automation to improve process efficiency, decision throughput, and the quality of architectural insights, while maintaining appropriate governance controls.
- Define and maintain standards, templates, and guidance that make it easier for teams to do the "right thing" architecturally.
- Contribute to the maturation of enterprise architecture practices, including:
- Use metrics and collaborator feedback to measure governance efficiency and drive ongoing improvement.
Partner Engagement & Communication
- Act as a trusted partner to ARB members, architects, product leaders, and delivery teams.
- Engage with business partner to manage and triage unplanned demand.
- Support unplanned or high‑urgency requests with clarity, pragmatism, and decision‑making.
- Translate architectural outcomes into clear, audience-appropriate communications for executives, project groups, and governance bodies.
- Collaborate with ServiceNow and enablement teams to automate and streamline architecture workflows, reducing manual effort and cycle time.
- Visibility across enterprise‑wide initiatives and strategic investments.
- Opportunity to shape and mature architecture governance as a business enabler, not a bottleneck.
- A role that blends strategic thinking, architectural rigor, and organizational leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8-10+ years of experience in process design, technology governance, business analysis, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or facilitating governance forums (e.g., Architecture Review Board, solution design reviews, or risk management processes).
- TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certifications
- Business Analysis certifications (CBAP, PMI‑PBA)
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, domains, and delivery teams.
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise architecture repositories or tools (e.g., LeanIX or comparable platforms) is an asset.
- Working knowledge of enterprise architecture and governance concepts, including Capability mapping, Reference architectures, Application and technology lifecycles, Technical debt, risk, and exception management.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow‑based intake and workflow processes is beneficial.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools; Power BI and diagramming tools (Visio / Draw.io).
- Experience facilitating and continuously improving lean, well‑defined governance processes.
- Ability to standardize templates, guidance, and artifacts to improve consistency and decision quality, without creating unnecessary process overhead.
- Exposure to automation or AI‑assisted analysis to improve governance efficiency is beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and coordinate inputs across diverse participant groups.
- Ability to serve as a reliable collaborator with architects, delivery teams, and business partners.
- Comfortable managing ambiguity, competing priorities, and sudden or critical demand.
- Highly organized, diligent, and reliable, with a good sense of ownership for process execution and follow-through.
- Pragmatic and outcome‑focused, with an appreciation for balancing governance rigor and delivery needs.
