AbCellera is a young, energetic, and rapidly growing tech company with a stellar team that searches, decodes, and analyzes natural immune systems to find antibodies that its partners can develop into drugs to prevent and treat disease. As part of a rapidly expanding business, we’re looking for someone to  support and develop our alliance management capabilities. Being part of a leading company in biologics with partnerships across the entire biopharma ecosystem, the Business and Alliance Manager will support the business development and scientific teams in planning, executing and monitoring partnership programs. The role is highly collaborative in nature and will require that you work closely with our partners and our internal R&D, Business Development, project management and finance teams. How you might spend your days:

  • Crafting work plans, and establishing and building partnerships in collaboration with AbCellera’s R&D groups and the Business Development team
  • Ensuring contract terms and processes are monitored and reported accurately (i.e. upfront payments, diligence obligations, approvals, milestones)
  • Monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed with partners to maximize the speed and probability of success of each program and partnership
  • Diplomatically negotiating, escalating and resolving issues that arise during collaboration projects 
  • Interfacing with multiple teams to ensure a consistent understanding of project governance and status, and alignment on risks, opportunities and the project plan
  • Working with partners to set the direction and define the details of collaboration agreements including key activities, timelines and responsibilities on both sides of the partnership
  • Serving as the hub for communication between  several internal teams and the collaboration partner
  • Developing long term relationships with partners to deliver repeat business

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You have a PhD in a related science field
  • You have relevant education or experience in business, science and alliance management, ideally with 5 years or more of related experience within the Pharma/Biotech industry
  • You know how to navigate your way around a contract and have the creativity, adaptability, and win-win mindset required for artful negotiations 
  • You take pride in building strong and productive relationships, and creating value through collaboration
  • You have experience in managing programs, alliances, partnerships, collaborations and/or joint ventures with a business development component
  • You are curious and interested by technology, with an in-depth understanding of the drug development process, specifically biologics
  • You have strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • You have outstanding interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting, to foster and nurture teamwork, and to facilitate productive discussions 
  • You are able to influence without authority and establish credibility with various audiences.
  • You are resourceful, motivated, decisive and proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growth organization
