The Information Services Division are technology leaders, planning and delivering successful solutions with information management and information technology (IM/IT) services to both the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The division also provides IM/IT resource planning, decision-making, project and issues management, security and privacy functions, and hardware support. To provide vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining information technology (IT) solutions and initiatives that improve cost effectiveness, service quality and access to services for the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR).
The position interacts with senior officials across the provincial government and leads the development and implementation of major and highly complex/innovative information, digital strategies and technology solutions. These solutions support the achievement of governments' key priorities, the ministers mandate letters, and sustaining critical services to citizens.
This position works directly with GCIO, Ministry of Finance, Advocate for Service Quality, EATT, RCY, CLBC, indigenous organizations, to coordinate investments, address technical debt and implement digital solutions that connect and modernize the social sector and across four distinct ministries. There is increasing imperative to improve client accessibility, build modular, component-based systems, and eliminate vendor lock-in across the social sector through improved planning and architecture, leverage common components, and develop internal capacity.

Information Services Division:
- Works to find technology solutions and improvement opportunities and then plans, builds, implements, and runs the resulting digital products and services that have the most benefit potential for BC's Children and Families.
- Maintains and supports of over 130 applications used by the BC's Social Sector, from large complex client relationship management (CRM) platforms like the sector's Integrated Case Management System (ICM) to public facing portals such as MySelfServe , MyFamilyServices , and Online Employment Services .
Over 400,000 payments flow through our systems each month to British Columbians and service providers across the province. Reliability of our systems is very important and at the core of critical service delivery including income assistance, senior's supplement, child protection, and child-care programs helping a lot of British Columbians every day.

- Completion of a degree in business or public administration, information science or computer science with a specialization in information management, or a related field AND at least 7 years of experience. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with strategic planning and business transformation in a technology-dependent business area or information systems branch.
- Experience leading, developing and implementing information management and information technology policies, programs and projects in a complex systems environment including data security and data management.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships, both internal and external partnerships
- Experience negotiating and managing information technology contracts.
- Experience leading and developing professional staff, project teams.
- Experience managing significant-sized budgets, preferably related to technology and/or project related expenditures (i.e.: capital and operating).
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in the development and administration of information security and information privacy programs and/or data management policy and program development.
