Job Summary
The Team
We are a committed team focused on delivering high-quality services and achieving meaningful outcomes. Led by the Warden, our team of senior managers works together to establish strategic plans and address operational challenges within a correctional centre employing approximately 125 staff members. The Warden, as a key member of the Custody Division Management Committee, leads innovative solutions to organizational challenges while adhering to sound management and correctional practices. We value teamwork, communication, and professionalism, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every team member can thrive.
The Role
As the Warden, you will set the strategic direction for the correctional center, leading a dynamic team to shape services and programs that support positive change, reduce reoffending, and enhance community safety. Your leadership will drive innovative projects and initiatives, elevating the efficiency and quality of correctional management across BC. With significant autonomy, you'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on both individuals in our care and the communities we serve. The Warden also chairs and participates in provincial sub-committees, working groups, and joint management/union committees, building strong relationships with external partners, government agencies, and oversight bodies. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Related degree or diploma in the social sciences/public administration OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires recent extensive (5 or more years) senior leadership experience in a correctional or justice related environment including experience in managing the delivery of programs and services.
- Previous experience in financial management, program planning and implementation, utilization of computer systems/equipment, facility management, labour relations, and the management and supervision of staff.
