Job Summary Bring your vision, leadership, and strategic planning skills to this important roleThe Population and Public Health Division is responsible for improving population health and well-being and advancing health equity through health promotion and prevention, health protection, communicable disease prevention and control, and strategy, planning and evaluation.The branch is responsible for population health and wellness strategies related to: healthy eating and food security, physical activity, healthy weights, injury prevention, healthy communities and their built and natural environments, child and maternal health, aging well, and reduced harms associated with tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis, use as well as gambling
The position is responsible for developing policies and programs that address risk factors associated with chronic disease and injury, and clinical prevention/screening strategies. This includes providing expertise, advice and guidance to ministry Executive and across government on a diverse range of issues and initiatives that impact the health of the people in BC.
Job Requirements:• Graduate degree in public or business administration, health administration, or a related field, and minimum of eight (8) years of related experience* in the health sector OR;
• An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training may be considered.
*Related experience may include:
• Experience leading complex projects and processes in a multi-disciplinary environment, preferably involving large health or social service sector organizations.
• Experience working productively and cooperatively with internal and external partners.
• Experience managing projects, including planning, and coordinating resources and team members.
• Experience leading initiatives related to population and public health, health equity, or the determinants of health.
• Experience leading and managing work in the health or social service sector.
• Experience leading intersectoral partnerships/initiatives at the provincial level.
• Experience promoting evidence-based solutions to health or social service sector issues linked with controversy and highly charged public debate.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
• Experience in Prevention and Health Promotion.
• Those who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)

About this Position:Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
