Kamloops Society for Alcohol and Drug Services provides substance use services and advocacy to individuals, families and communities. We provide inpatient medically supervised withdrawal management, outpatient counselling to youth and support to their families, youth day treatment and supportive recovery programming for adults.

Job Summary: Assistant Nurse (RN) Supervisor - Detox

This fulltime position requires flexibility and responsiveness. Reporting to the Detox Supervisor, the Assistant Detox Supervisor is responsible for coordinating staff to assure that effective services are provided and quality standards are met. In the absence of the Detox Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor assumes all appropriate duties as defined by management. The hours of work for this position will be 37.5 hours per week with shift work, weekend and on-call hours as required.

This position will support the Detox Supervisor and detox staff in areas of staff development, program planning, quality management, and clinical compliance.


  • Education *

·Bachelor in Science in Nursing or equivalent Nursing Certification

·Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with a Canadian college

  • Experience *

·At least 3 years’ experience in direct patient care

·At least 2 years’ experience in supervision of a multi-disciplinary team

·At least 3 years’ experience working with the harm reduction model

·Recent experience with a wide range of mental health and substance use issues as they pertain to withdrawal management

·Experience with electronic medical records will be an asset

  • Knowledge *

·Comprehensive knowledge of alcohol and drug use, including withdrawal management and mental health

·Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

·Knowledge of community resources within the IH region

  • Skills and Abilities: *

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·Proven ability to effectively support staff individually and as a team

·Proven ability to make solution based decisions expediently, implementing and evaluating them

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $43.09-$52.82 per hour
