As an Apprentice Body Shop Technician, you will be responsible for repairing damaged body parts and bodies of heavy duty trucks in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards under the supervision of a qualified Body Shop Technician, while also fulfilling the education and training requirements of the apprenticeship.
If you are a recent graduate of a body shop collision repair program/or similar program and a quick learner with the willingness to learn, we want to hear from you!
Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts to prepares trucks for body repair work
Cooperate and assist other personnel in the repair and prepping of trucks
Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
Participate in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events
Ensure the neatness and cleanliness body shop area after each repair while ensuring all tools and equipment are operated in a safe manner
Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, provincial/state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, occupational health & safety regulations, etc.
Keep up to date with WHMIS training
Become familiar with and complies with the company's Health & Safety Manual
Successful completion of a Bodyshop Collision repair technical training program
Must be willing to attend Apprenticeship Training each year while working towards the Autobody Technician Certificate (travel may be required)
Valid Driver's License: Class 3 with Airbrake Endorsement or Class 1
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work with others
Good mechanical aptitude and is quality-oriented
Computer skills and experience
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 kgs or 50 pounds
Must be able to walk around body shop floor and exterior yard area (long periods standing / walking)
Must have the mobility to easily access and egress trucks and equipment.
Must be willing and able to work various shifts, possibly including weekends
