Tax Services is a department within TD Wealth Private Trust, a key business unit within TD Wealth Private Wealth Management, which provides tax return preparation and planning for estates and trusts; high net worth individuals and their families. Tax Services also provides bookkeeping and corporate tax services for clients with investment holding companies. Job Details
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, with operational oversight by a Tax Manager, the Analyst is primarily responsible for the preparation of Personal (T1) and Trust (T3) returns; for a section of accounts administered by a Tax Manager. The position also entails assisting the Tax Manager in the relationship management of the assigned client files. Key accountabilities include:
• Preparation of 250+ personal and trust returns for assigned clients in a timely and accurate manner.
• Gathering information from client, CRA represent a client and various internal resources.
• Compiling a paperless working paper file of all tax documentation used to support the tax return for review by a CPA, prior to filing.
• Handling and responding to tax correspondence for assigned clients.
Performing other duties and special projects as assigned, including filing.
• Contact client or internal partner for missing information required for return preparation.
• Staying abreast of tax developments. Job Requirements
• Completion of or working towards a bachelor's degree, with a focus on taxation and/or accounting. Additional Information
• Recent experience in a professional tax services environment (i.e. tax services company, trust company or public accounting firm) preparing inter-vivos/testamentary trust (T3), and personal (T1) income tax returns for HNW individuals.
• Experience with CCH TaxPrep, CRA Represent a Client and MS Office.
• Effective time management, organizational, and communication skills.
