Job Purpose:

The Alternate Mortgage Solutions Specialist is dedicated to building better futures together by providing mortgage solutions to members when Coast Capital cannot fulfill a mortgage within its policies and current channels. This position will work with these members to refer their business to one of our external lending partners who will work with the members to fulfill their mortgage.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and follow up on all leads and contacts to guarantee opportunities are maximized, thinking like a member to understand and anticipate their needs.
  • Review declined mortgages and reach out to members to determine if they are still interested and if so, refer to our external lending partners.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Mobile Mortgage Specialist team, Branch and AC sales teams on what our Alternate Lenders can provide for Mortgage opportunities that don't fall within our policies.
  • Proactively reach out to Realtors, Developers and network to promote referrals to Coast Capital for mortgage opportunities, delivering results through effective actions and decisions.
  • Foster relationships with our external lending referral partners to ensure consistent service delivery, being open, honest, and clear in all communications.
  • Stay up to date on products offered by our external lending partners, ensuring that we provide the best referral option when a member fits the profile.
  • Underwrite mortgages, ensuring compliance requirements with Coast Capital policies and procedures and external regulatory bodies are met. Responsible for full review and assessment of documentation, calculations and underwriting of all applications received from internal referrals.
  • Collaborate with Retail, Mobile Mortgage Specialists, and other departments to restructure mortgage applications in order to support the financial well-being of our members, lifting each other up through teamwork.
  • Work cohesively with partners to ensure a consistent image in service delivery both externally to attract new members and internally to retain and build on previously established relationships with Coast. This includes outbound calling and collaboration with branches and the Advice Centre for additional opportunities.

  • Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: High School plus some post-secondary education.
  • Experience: 4 - 6 years dedicated within mortgage sales, with strong all-round lending experience and excellent skills in building credit files and underwriting.
  • Demonstrated strong business development skills with a proven track record of being both a hunter and a gatherer, adept at identifying new opportunities, generating leads, and nurturing client relationships to drive sales and achieve targets.
  • Proficient with technology including but not limited to the technical interface program used to submit applications to external lending partners.
  • Strong working knowledge of Coast's internal CALMS lending system.
  • Strong sense of entrepreneurship, acting like an owner to take responsibility and lead by example.
  • Well-established network of contacts (COI's) and ability to generate and convert pipeline opportunities.
  • Willing to work flexible hours based on client availability in a flexible hybrid working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Comfortable in exploring and capturing member needs and helping them find and recommend solutions, living our purpose in every action.
