To contribute to the achievement of People & Development Department and BCAA's objectives by effectively coordinating all benefit functions and to increase the perceived value of BCAA's Benefits plan offerings. What's the status?

35 hour work weekKey Responsibilities IncludeWhat you will be doing?
This position is responsible for the administration of BCAA's benefit functions for approximately 1,300 union and non-union team members, including the company-wide flex benefits plan, as well as EFAP and MSP. In addition, the incumbent of this role also administers the Executive Benefit Plan, the active/inactive Directors Benefit Plan, and Retirees Benefit Plan. The incumbent of this role will be responsible for
•Working in collaboration on create the strategic benefits plan. Providing •Ongoing cost analysis of BCAA benefit plans (EFAP, Flex, etc.) •Ensuring the completion and coordination of the day to day benefits administration •Leading BCAA's annual flex enrollment •Performing duties as the liaison between BCAA, team members, and the key benefit carriers •Resolving team member concerns regarding their Benefits and BCAA's benefit carrier •Providing basic Pension support and connecting employees with provider •Developing communication material and promoting the Benefit Plan to team members •Maintaining a strategic and proactive relationship will all benefit providers Key duties include:Service Excellence and Consultation
•As BCAA's subject matter expert for benefits, this incumbent is often the first point of contact for team members with any benefit issues or questions. In particular escalations. •Liaise with team members and managers to provide consultative support/guidance with benefit inquiries/issues. •Provides team members with expert guidance to ensure that appropriate, well informed benefit selections are made during enrolment. •Consults with insurance carriers to resolve benefit issues and determine best course of action. •Monitors and resolves customer service issues with insurance carriers. Escalates to manager where necessary. •When required, visits locations for further benefit support and promotion. •Assures total customer satisfaction by handling all inquiries and resolving challenges as they arise with team members and carriers. Legislation, Benefit Plan Policy Interpretation & Administration
•Ensures BCAA complies with the provisions of the benefit contract. •Ensures that the Benefit Carrier's enrollment site and the payroll site are updated with legislative changes that are relevant to benefits. •Ensures team members are advised if their benefit coverage is being impacted in accordance with our contract provisions with the benefit carrier when denied STD/LTD coverage. •Ensures the payroll system is updated when premiums have changed to ensure the team members are taxed and/or deducted correctly. •Coordinates the completion of benefit enrollments for all new hires, major life events, and employment type changes. •Maintains accurate team member data in the benefits administration system and the HRIS. •Maintains a high level of accuracy to ensure payroll deductions and taxable benefits are set up correctly in the payroll system. •Processes LTD/Life Insurance approvals/declines, including adjustments to deductions. •Processes changes and adds new team members to MSP Direct online system. •Conducts a full audit each year for MSP and Retiree MSP plans to ensure payroll deductions and taxable benefits are correct and team members have the correct coverage •Prepares & analyzes monthly premium reports for self-administered plan. •Processes all benefit payments for insurance carriers, including provincial medical plan, EFAP & Business Travel Accident and Benefit Consultants by the established deadlines. •Imports mass changes of the flex deduction and/or taxable benefit from the GroupNet enrollment site to the payroll system. • Annual Benefit Enrolment
•Leads the annual flex enrollment project, ensuring all deliverables and deadlines are met. •Reviews and updates the team member Benefit handbook & forms annually. •Develops and posts communications related to the annual benefit enrolment. •Provides recommendations to Management pertaining to changes to the existing benefit plan. Program Promotion
•Analyzes benefit utilization providing statistics and recommendations to Manager. •Promotes BCAA's Benefit plan through the development of communication pieces in alignment with the strategic Total Rewards communication plan. •Develops and presents Benefit Plan learning sessions for new hires and departments/locations. Minimum Qualifications What you bring to the role:Education:
•Diploma in HR/Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience:
•Five years of HR experience, 3 of which are in a benefitsrole for a mid to large-sized company with a flexible benefit plan. Technical:
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word & Excel) •Previous experience in HRIS (Workday) Other skills:
•Strong knowledge of legislation as it pertains to Benefits •Excellent organizational and problem solving/investigative skills and the ability to source information quickly •Demonstrates ability to be innovative and to take initiative •Tact, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality •Ability to meet deadlines and establish work priorities •Proven ability to effectively present to groups •Excellent project management skills •Superior communication skills; strong listening skills, ability to communicate ideas clearly, strong written skills (clear and concise) and the ability to tailor communication to the audiences needs •Ability to work well in a team where cross collaboration and communication is essential Background Check:
