The Government Digital Experience (GDX) division supports ministries to run public engagements initiatives, service design projects, citizen facing websites and several other information technology solutions for modernizing government.

The Citizen Engagement Team provides strategic leadership and cross-government coordination of public engagement initiatives that contribute to legislative, regulatory, policy and service improvements across government. The Citizen Engagement Team is part of Government Digital Experience Division (GDX) and provides corporate leadership by designing and implementing large scale, complex public engagement initiatives across government. These initiatives allow all British Columbians to have a say in the policies and services that affect their lives. The Team manages two public facing web platforms, engage.gov.bc.ca and GovTogetherBC.

Reporting to the Engagement Lead, Citizen Engagement this position will provide public engagement coordination and project management support for large, complex projects while at the same time taking responsibility for small and medium sized engagements within an assigned portfolio of ministries. This role will plan projects, prepare financial and contract arrangements, and monitor budgets and deliverables to ensure the projects are on time and meet quality standards.

The Citizen Engagement Planner coordinates all aspects of both web site and in-person, regional and community meetings and coordinates stakeholder engagement within their portfolio. This position coordinates all the development of all marketing and outreach materials and approaches within their portfolio. This position gathers and analyzes feedback and develops recommendations and garners ideas that will be considered by ministries for legislative, regulatory, policy and service improvements. This position provides advice to the Team Lead and Director on evaluation, improvements or results of public engagement to provide to Premier's Office, Ministers and Minister's offices.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (may include Business Administration, Economics or Public Administration) or equivalent combination of *related experience, education and/or training may be considered.

*Must include a minimum of 2 years' related experience in each of the following:
  • Experience working in communications and/or public engagement.
  • Experience in policy development.
  • Experience establishing and managing positive relationships with senior staff.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience writing reports and briefings for approval by senior executive.

Preferences may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Certification in IAP2 and/or courses in public engagement, public relations or communications.
  • Experience and competence in creating public survey tools.
  • Experience using WordPress and LIME survey.
  • Experience gathering, synthesizing, evaluating and interpreting data from diverse sources using various tools and techniques (i.e. statistical software, survey administration, in-person consultation, data visualization tools).

  • Ability to travel is a requirement of this position.
