An Exciting Opportunity for a Facilities Professional!

At the Superior Courts Judiciary, staff support the work of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, and Supreme Court of British Columbia. The Court of Appeal is the highest court in the province. It hears appeals from the Supreme Court, from the Provincial Court on some criminal matters, and reviews and appeals from some administrative boards and tribunals. The Supreme Court of British Columbia is the provinces superior trial court. The Supreme Court is a court of general and inherent jurisdiction which means that it can hear any type of case, civil or criminal.

For the first time in the history of the Superior Courts Judiciary, a position will be focused entirely on courthouse facilities administration. Be the person who creates an enduring standard for excellence in this new position.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Facilities Officer will be responsible for day-to-day facilities administration, as well as long term facilities planning. They will liaise with government personnel, contractors, Judicial Officers, Judicial Staff, and others. They will also manage a modest facilities budget.

The successful candidate will be able to point to major courthouse projects such as the recently completed Abbotsford Law Courts, and say with pride "I had a part in that!"

The position is based at the beautiful Vancouver Law Courts, adjacent to Robson Square, and is close to public transit.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • Diploma related to facilities management or related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Experience in facilities administration.
  • Experience in at least one major ($250K+) commercial or residential renovation or new build project.

Preference may be given to candidates who clearly identify in their resume:
  • Experience in facilities administration in the BC Public Service.
  • Experience in the BC Public Service where financial and administrative duties were governed by Core Policies & Procedures.
