Job Summary

The Team
The newly established Fire Services team at BC Wildfire Service brings together 12 skilled professionals - including a superintendent, project coordinator, administrative support, logistics officers, and structure protection specialists - united by a shared mission: safeguarding people and property from wildfire risks. Operating virtually across the province, we collaborate closely with diverse partners to deliver innovative solutions. The Role
The Logistics Officer plays a key role in ensuring smooth logistics throughout the wildfire response season. This position supports asset management and coordinates structure protection deployment across six fire centres. As part of a growing provincial program, you'll have the opportunity to refine processes and build valuable expertise in logistics and emergency operations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience creating and managing spreadsheets, and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.

Preference Statements
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have completed training in contract and procurement management.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience using Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in emergency response operations.

Willingness Statements
  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.
  • To keep current on emerging issues.
  • To take in-house training and certification as required.
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
  • To travel and/or overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned.

About this Position:
This position is located in Kamloops.
This posting is to establish an eligibility list to fill both current and/or future temporary (auxiliary) vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
