Job Summary

The Student Information, Data and Education Network Services Branch provides four key services to B.C. students and school districts: Next Generation Network, MyEducation, Data Collections, and Student Certification. The Student Certification Unit is primarily responsible for the administration of B.C. Grade 12 graduation and related student achievement programs. The unit also oversees the Ministry's role as official provider of student graduation certificates and transcripts and supports the administration of student achievement programs in other jurisdictions (e.g., Yukon, Offshore and First Nations Schools). It is also responsible for the administration and promotion of the B.C. Training and Education Savings Program. Staff provide key operational services and supports to students (and their parents), schools, districts, post-secondary institutions, other governments, and education sector organizations, as well as program areas across the Ministry.

Provide information and advice on graduation programs, assessment administration policies and procedures to school personnel, post-secondary institutions, students and other interested parties. Assist the public in providing information on all facets of the B.C. Provincial Graduation Programs, including graduation requirements, administration of the provincial assessment program, data collection, and distribution of assessment and transcript data. Inform the review, analysis and development of policies, procedures and standards relating to the administration of the graduation program.

Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration or a related field plus a minimum 1-year *related experience, or;
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration or a related field or certificate plus a minimum 2-years *related experience, or;
  • Diploma in business administration, public administration or a related field and a minimum of three years *related experience, or;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Related experience must include the following:
  • Experience providing information and services to the public.
  • Experience dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Experience working in a team that oversees a complex administration program with multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Experience analyzing complex information to determine solutions.
  • Experience in word processing and other computer applications such as spreadsheets, and databases.

Preference may be given to the following:
  • Experience with policy and legislation of the BC Graduation Programs.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until December 1, 2023.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
