The District of West Vancouver has openings for casual administrative / customer service positions. We are actively in search of enthusiastic professionals that are customer service oriented, resourceful, tech-savvy, and possess excellent communication skills to assist our staff teams and community members.

The preferred candidates will have a flexible schedule and attitude which allows them to commit to variable work placements. These positions are required on an on-call, temporary basis to cover for illness, vacation and to assist with special projects and assignments. These positions also provide you with training, opportunities to work in a variety of fantastic and inclusive environments, and to gain valuable experiences to build your resume.

Responsibilities vary significantly based on assignment, and may include:
  • providing a high level of customer service to internal and external contacts via email, over the phone, and in person;
  • providing a broad range of administrative support including: creating, editing, and formatting documents, drafting and processing correspondence, conducting basic research, and data entry;
  • scheduling and maintaining calendars using Microsoft Outlook;
  • preparing and maintaining various manual and computer based records, reports, purchase orders, invoices, receipts, forms and files;
  • operating office equipment and computer hardware & software programs and;
  • other duties as required by the specific assignment.

The preferred candidates will possess: excellent customer service, knowledge of Microsoft Office, previous administrative experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, exemplary time management and organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to different departments.

The successful candidates have completed a minimum of two years of customer services or administrative experience, is proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and has the ability to keyboard at a minimum of 50 WPM. Some experience with processing / filing payroll records, paralegal, notary or conveyancing, and executive assistant experience would be considered an asset. The successful candidates will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.
