Public company with offices in downtown Vancouver has an urgent need for an Accounts Payable specialist with experience handling high volume A/P.  You will be supporting a growing Finance team, optimising the accounts payable process across Canada and the US. 

The position can be hybrid or fully remote position, which will appeal to qualified candidates residing outside of the lower mainland.  (Must be located in British Columbia.)

This is a maternity leave contract position, expected to run until April 2023.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage bank accounts in multiple currencies: (USD, CAD), ensuring balances meet payment expectations
  • Ensure correct allocation of payments and receipts in multiple currencies
  • Reconciles bank and credit card accounts monthly
  • Manage corporate credit cards
  • Oversee a high volume AP mailbox, ensuring supplier queries are resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensure supplier invoices are posted to correct entities, approved, and are coded correctly
  • Manage supplier statement reconciliation for key suppliers
  • Manage supplier vendor list, ensuring all new vendors are added
  • Staff expense reimbursements
  • Manage payment process, reviewing payments twice monthly and ad-hoc payments
  • Ensure new vendor bank details are added to relevant bank(s); ensure proper verification has taken place
  • Work with other areas in the business to develop strong accounts payable processes
  • Support Finance Team with coding & monthly reporting
  • Manage supplier complaints & complex queries in AP mailbox in a timely manner
  • Ad hoc duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High volume A/P experience – 200 to 300 invoices a month
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working in a multi-currency, multi-entity organisation
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (intermediate to advanced user of Excel), and general computer literacy and experience manipulating large databases
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-department teams and establish strong working relationships with all
  • Excellent verbal communication and enquiry skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential and accurate records
  • Experience with purchasing procedures in a manufacturing environment would be an asset

Salary in the $55k per annum range + excellent benefits.
