Accounting Lead: Hi-Beam Group

Location: Vancouver, BC (in office)
Type: Full-time, permanent

Hi-Beam Group is hiring a CPA to oversee accounting for the whole group which consists of a construction operating company and real estate development companies. This is a hands-on role where you will own month-end close, payroll, CRA and GST compliance, and lender reporting.

About us. Hi-Beam Contractors Ltd. has been operating since 2002. We build high-rise, low- and mid-rise, townhome and custom home projects across the Lower Mainland. Alongside it, we run a real estate development arm focused on residential development for multiplex, infill and townhouse projects.

Reporting and scope

You will report to the President and work closely with the group's CFO. You will also be liaising with external accountants, tax advisors and lenders. You will supervise bookkeeping/AP support.

Key responsibilities

Leading month end closing
Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, intercompany and shareholder accounts every month.
Prepare monthly reporting for management: P&L, balance sheet, and cash position
Own job costing and reviewing budget-to-actual
Oversee progress billing, change orders, holdback receivables and payables, and AR collections.
Prepare quarterly work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue.
Account for development projects from land purchase through completion
Prepare construction loan draw packages and reconcile them to lender and QS reports.
Track project budgets, cost-to-complete, and equity contributions for each project.
Lender reporting and covenant compliance on bank credit lines, construction draws, etc.
Process bi-weekly payroll including hourly trades, overtime and vacation pay.
Remit source deductions to CRA, file GST/PST, submit WorkSafeBC and EHT remittances.
Year-end files for the external accountants, T4s, and T5018s for subcontractor payments.

Required

CPA designation with 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
Construction or real estate development accounting experience: job costing, progress billing, holdbacks, WIP, or project cost capitalization.
Proven experience processing payroll and preparing GST/HST and PST filings.
Direct experience dealing with CRA on correspondence, reviews or audits.
Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany reconciliations and related-party balances.
Salary: $105,000 to $115,000, depending on experience.
