Our client is an esteemed legal firm, located in the heart of beautiful Downtown Vancouver, and they are looking for an Intermediate Accounting Clerk.
Their dynamic team seeks a dedicated professional to provide comprehensive support across various accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Trust accounting. If this looks like you, then apply today to start your journey in a legal firm.
What You'll Do:
- Manage AR write-offs.
- Prepare AR and Work in Progress (WIP) reports.
- Process daily cost recovery transactions.
- Resolve errors and follow up on unassigned transactions.
- Post and reconcile credit card transactions.
- Process Trust cheques and obtain necessary signatures.
- Complete daily bank deposits for Trust accounts.
- Handle trust transfers for firm account payments and between matters.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for General and Trust accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support financial audits by providing required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting files and records.
- Ensure adherence to Law Society rules and regulations.
- Address ad-hoc duties as needed.
- Support monthly billing for approximately 100 lawyers across four offices.
- Generate pre-bills, bills, reversals, and WIP write-offs during peak periods.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered. Candidates currently enrolled in the CPA program will be given priority.
- Min 3 years of experience in accounting, with familiarity in full cycle accounting; experience in professional services is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient with MS Office 365 and other digital tools.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in managing data and financial records.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and software.
- Organizational and time management skills are important. Multitasking and meeting deadlines in time
- Effective working both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer-focused with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with professional and courteous communication, both oral and written.
