Position Summary

We are recruiting for an Accounting Clerk to join our growing Real Estate team. You will play a key role in the day to day operations of the firm by performing basic transactional processing and bookkeeping as part of the Real Estate Finance Team. This provides an excellent opportunity to use your creativity and ingenuity to improve systems and provide professional and insightful support to the team. You will report directly to the Manager, Fund Accounting. As an Accounting Clerk, Real Estate, your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Processing payables and receivables, preparing journal entries, preparing invoices, and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Handling banking duties including creation of wires
  • Referencing invoices to contracts to ensure accuracy, when applicable
  • Ensuring timely payments to avoid late fees and interest charges
  • Managing correspondence received from external parties
  • Work with members of the year-end audit team to facilitate accurate and timely audited financial statements
  • Additional accounting support as needed

Your experience and qualifications will include:

  • Certificate or diploma in Accounting. Equivalent experience will be considered
  • Familiarity with Yardi software would be an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and manage competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
