Position:        Accounting Administrator                           

Job Type:      Full-time, Permanent Employment

Location:       Brightside Head Office, Downtown Vancouver

Brightside Community Homes Foundation (“Brightside”) is a private-sector, non-for-profit organization that owns and manages 27 buildings across the Metro Vancouver, providing affordable housing to those who struggle to meet the demands of market housing. In addition to property management, Brightside is committed to building connections within the Brightside communities that include over 1,000 residents.

Brightside is seeking to fill a full-time, permanent position on our accounting team, in the role of the Accounting Administrator, reporting directly to the Director of Finance.

  • To coordinate the annual subsidy review process for a portion of total residents.
  • To perform high-volume administrative functions associated with subsidy review including preparing correspondence and performing rent calculations pursuant to Brightside policies and/or BC Housing requirements; and
  • To perform accounting support duties for accounts payable (A/P).
  • Process Annual Subsidy Reviews, Short-Term Subsidy Reviews, and/or ad-hoc rent calculations as required.
  • Review resident files, documents, employment income and bank statements to ensure residents meet and maintain eligibility requirements for affordable housing.
  • Ensure income/rent limits are accurate and up-to-date and within required guideline.
  • Monitor portfolio compliance with provincial, federal and local government requirements for affordable housing programs and identify (and report) potential compliance issues.
  • Coordinate and organize a team for on-site Subsidy Review Clinics at select buildings.
  • Process and scan vendor invoices and supporting documents for A/P
  • Process invoices and payments for the vendors.
  • Provide vacation coverage for both A/P and I/R roles.
  • Perform bank and GL reconciliations.
  • Assist with projects/assignments and other duties, as assigned.

  • Experience handling high-volume transactions and repetitive administrative tasks with accuracy and precision.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proven ability to resolve conflict, problem solve, and generate proactive solutions and recommendations.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member.
  • Experience working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations.
  • Minimum one (1) year of accounting-related experience in a property management or social housing environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Residential Tenancy Act and/or Yardi Voyager
    would be an asset.


The successful incumbent will be a self-starter with well-developed time management and conflict resolution skills. They will have the proven ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising service and/or accuracy. They will be personable, possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and be accustomed to working with the general public and individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds. Ideally, the successful incumbent will be highly detail-oriented, possess some accounting experience, and have a desire to work for a mission-driven organization.   • Brightside is proud to be a certified Living Wage employer. Expected salary range for this position: $50,000-$52,000/year (to commensurate with experience). A competitive and comprehensive benefits package is provided

    is required for this position.
  • A valid BC Driver’s license is also required for this position.
