Position Overview:

You are part of a dynamic, high-performance team that will shape the evolution of the Wireless and Wireline categories within Canadian retailers. The TELUS National Retail Team strives to become the most effective Channel team at TELUS, executing with excellence, efficiency, and effectiveness.

This position is part of TELUS Retail Ltd., and will involve managing TELUS' products and services with National Retail accounts. As an Account Manager, you will be actively involved in supporting all areas of your clients' business including account strategy, go-to-market planning, inventory management, and partner compensation.

Reporting to the Manager, National Accounts, you will take leadership of the relationship between TELUS and third-party retailers; negotiating programs, managing business escalations, and fostering the growth of strategic partnerships within the accounts.

    •Achieve channel sales targets by proactively planning consumer programs that will align with TELUS' priorities and grow mindshare within the National Retail channel •Spearhead the launch of new TELUS programs within retailers by developing necessary business cases; advocating on behalf of the accounts; and leading program implementation •Leverage analytical skills to produce regular performance updates for clients and senior leaders •Lead regular business discussions that include account, channel, and corporate level performance results •Lead and partner with virtual and cross-functional teams to support the execution of new and existing retail programs •Manage a budget comprised of fixed and variable investments •Lead discussions and negotiations on partner compensation programs •Be an advocate - contribute to improving general awareness of National Retail within TELUS •Occasional travel within Canada and the United States to attend internal meetings and retail events


Required Knowledge:
    •Strong understanding of Canada retail industry (consumer electronics, mobility, accessories, IoT) •Experience supporting third-party retailers in a sales capacity •Superior creative; problem solving; critical thinking and analytical skills •Proven results in making decisions and trade-offs that deliver against broader business priorities •Proven results in launching programs that provide a win-win proposition for both business parties from program inception to in-store execution

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Experience with MS Office suite is an asset •Advanced understanding of Excel and PowerPoint are mandatory •Strong understanding of Canadian retail industry, specifically in wireless and wireline product categories •Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with superior interpersonal skills •Ability to work proactively in an autonomous environment and maintain open feedback and upward communication to managers, directors, and VPs across the Channel team

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •University Degree (Business degree or related discipline)

Required Experience:
    •5-7 years of equivalent experience •Sales experience with third party retailers an asset •Comfortable with MS Office suite - specifically with Excel and PowerPoint
