Our client, a downtown Aboriginal firm located in the heart of the city, is a collaborative, team-oriented firm with a small, hard-working team. This firm is looking for a full-time Senior Legal Assistant/Paralegal to assist in managing their team and work as a support assistant to two senior lawyers.

The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant, hard-working team. The successful candidate will have significant experience working in a Canadian law firm, be energetic, flexible and highly motivated.


A thorough understanding of Canadian law legal procedures. Experience in both corporate commercial and aboriginal law will be considered an asset;
Critical thinking skills, a high level of initiative, and, proactive approach to problem solving;
Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments, produce quality accurate work, and meet set time lines;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
Ability to act as a mentor and provide a collaborative, supportive working environment;
A strong orientation to delivering a superior standard of service;
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment;
Computer proficiency with Outlook, Quicklaw, Adobe, PC Law and Microsoft Office.


Performs legal assistant/paralegal activities in various areas of law for all courts: Small Claims, Supreme and Court of Appeal;
Prepare correspondence and a variety of legal documents ensuring compliance with Rules of Court;
Conducts research of records, court files and other legal documents, assembling documentary evidence and arranging for trials;
Maintains a well-organized work environment and implements efficient processes that minimizes lawyers’ administrative load and ensures ease of reference to firm’s documents;
Coordinates and performs tasks for the lawyers including conducting conflict checks, making appointments, responding to clients, booking meetings and boardrooms, booking travel, organizing conference calls, hotel arrangements, registration for seminars and courses.


5+ years of legal assistant experience in corporate/commercial or aboriginal law;
Legal assistant diploma from an accredited program; or
Paralegal certificate from an accredited program
