POSITION: LEAD HAND PLUMBER - PHSA

JOB TYPE: Permanent

STARTING WAGE: $37.36/hr

WORKING HOURS: 7am to 3 pm

START DATE: ASAP

LOCATION: BC Children's and Women's Hospital and Health Centre - 4500 Oak St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3N1

Responsibilities

• Managing and controlling designated plumbers and journeymen related to trade
• Performing duties such as planning and coordinating work assignments, checking completion of work products
• Evaluating the performance of employees
• Establishing preventative maintenance program by checking piping system and other plumbing fixtures
• Reviewing work requests and communicating with user department regarding work projects
• Estimating cost of labour and materials for predicting project costs
• Conducting operational and safety risk assessments
• Assembling and maintaining the inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment according to user department schedule
• Repairing and replacing items such as pipes, valves, and fixtures
• Testing and maintaining natural gas lines, equipment, and appliances based on BC gas Safety code
• Analyzing a range of cross connection control devices
• Checking valve and pressure vacuum assemblies by using gauges and water columns
• Updating the preventive maintenance tasks in responsibility and other areas as necessary
• Performing other relevant tasks as required

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field
• A Class B Gas Fitters license with an electrical endorsement is required
• Must have a Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification as a journeyman plumber recognized by the Province of British Columbia
• Valid Certificate of competency as a Cross Connection Control specialist issued by American Water works Association
• Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written manner
• Ability to carry out physical duties
• Must have a knowledge of blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Capability to operate equipment
