About IWA - Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans
IWA - Forest Industry Pension Plan
IWA - Forest Industry LTD Plan

The IWA - Forest Industry Pension Plan (the “Pension Plan”) was established in 1973 to provide benefits for workers in the forest industry. In 1978 the Coast, Southern Interior and Northern Interior regional pension plans were merged to create the current Plan. Today our Plan serves over 72,000 current and retired members in the industry.

The IWA – Forest Industry Long Term Disability Trust and Plan (the “LTD Plan”) was established in 1982 to provide disability benefits and rehabilitation services for workers in the forest industry.

A Board of Trustees representing both United Steelworkers and the Forest Industry employers oversees the administration of the Plans. The Trustees acquire and manage the services of the administrators, actuaries, auditors, legal counsel and investment managers in order to ensure the security of the Pension and LTD plan’s assets and competent administration of members’ benefits.

The Plans provides two major services: it acts as benefit administrator by collecting contributions and administering payment of benefits, and it also serves as the manager of the Pension and LTD Fund.
