Most technology careers require specialized training that goes beyond a basic understanding of how to use a computer. The majority of employers prefer a degree or diploma from a technical institute, and some experience in the field.
Recognizing the specialized skills required in digital media careers, this year the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the Emily Carr Institute of Art
and Design, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology have begun offering master’s degrees in digital media.

Art Institute of Vancouver – offers programs in graphic design, animation, digital film and video, 3D modeling, visual and game programming, and Web design.
