
Industrial Superintendent: Harvey 1501
This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities at the construction site and works closely with the Project Manager to ensure that the project is completed on time, safely, on budget and according to specifications.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Competencies
During the planning phase of the project – provides assistance, as requested by the Project Planner, takes pictures and measurement of existing site, provides input on labour productivity and manpower requirements, and/or provides advice on methods of accomplishing certain tasks as required.During the mobilization phase of the project – makes all arrangements necessary for work to begin. This includes setting up site fencing, obtaining local permits, placing construction trailers, hiring construction workers, finding accommodations, and setting up accounts with local suppliers. Arranges for temporary services such as phone, hydro, and water.Provides direction to both own forces and subcontractors throughout the construction phase. Ensures that all safety procedures are communicated and followed on site. Manages site activities to ensure that design, budget, and schedules are met. Liaises with inspectors and other local officials as required. Works in concert with the Project Manager to ensure all aspects of the construction are suitably handled. Monitors the quality of work being done. Maintains the security of the worksite. Resolves any problems that might arise on the worksite.Develops a productive and effective labour force staffed with the appropriate trade qualifications to carry out “own forces” work in a safe and efficient manner; including acting as Site Safety Officer/CSO as required. Performs site orientations and completes all required paperwork.Coordinates and facilitates daily, weekly and monthly on-site contractor meetings to ensure maintenance of a safe and efficient work environment.Provides the Project Manager and other personnel with regular reports on site activities. Builds and maintains an effective working relationship with the client and the client’s representatives as they visit the worksite.On completion of construction activities - participates in the site “walk through” with the client and resolves any concerns prior to formal client acceptance striving for “zero deficiencies”.Perform all administrative duties as outlined in the Field Operation Policy Binder.
Other Information
