We are looking for a Senior Database Developer to join our team in Victoria, BC.

This position is responsible for maintenance and construction of the corporate database following industry standards, best practices and Company Policies and Procedures. This position is responsible for solving all technical problems related to the corporate database and will take direction from management on goals and priorities. Work involves assisting in the planning, scheduling, and assigning of database projects; coordinating programming projects with the work of other staff; analyzing proposed database objects; writing routines; and providing technical assistance to programming staff.

Responsibilities
•Plan/schedule for DBMS installation
•Plan/coordinate database systems storage requirements
•Install/upgrade DBMS
•Monitor/maintain DBMS system level operation/performance
•Design/assist in the design of logical and the physical database model
•Design and implement security access infrastructure, data warehouse and analytical cervices
•Eliminate data redundancy and ensuring data integrity
•Manage central SQL and MSDE databases and database objects
•Maintain production database system security procedures
•Evaluate new database technology for future applications
•Support production databases using tools/utilities to tune, optimize performance and resolve technical database issues
•Develop and implement database standards and guidelines related to accessing and maintaining data and data security
•Improve utilization of existing database capabilities
•Provide input/expertise into database performance and tuning

Requirements:
•5+ years of experience in application/database/OLAP development and maintenance
•Experience with data intensive aspects of the Financial Services Industry
•Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a VFP programming environment
•Successful completion of at least one of MS DBA exams
•Expert level hands-on experience in SQL Server replication issue resolution
•Experience in designing and creating tables, views, triggers and complex stored procedures, functions, indexes and other database objects
•Experience in developing ETL using SSIS and T-SQL
•Experience in performance tuning and database monitoring
•Experience in OLAP design and implementation
•Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
•C# programming is preferred
