Job Summary

A dynamic role for a skilled analyst with excellent partnership-buildingand communication skills

The Ministry of Agriculture's Food and Beverage Branch delivers a suite of strategies, programs, services and resources that support the capacity of B.C.'s agriculture, food and seafood sector to successfully participate in domestic and international markets and increase opportunities for B.C. grown and processed foods. Within the Branch, the Food System Partnerships Unit (FSPU) supports the growth and success of B.C.'s food, and food processing industry. The unit works collaboratively across the supply chain to grow economic opportunities and strengthen B.C.'s food system resilience.

The Senior Policy Analyst coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies, partnerships, and initiatives for the Ministry's Feed BC program to support economic growth and development of B.C.'s agriculture and food sector and provincial food system resilience.

Job Requirements:
  • A master's degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences or equivalent and two (2) years of *related experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences or equivalent and three (3) years of *related experience; or an equivalent combination of seven (7) years of education and/or *related experience may be considered.
  • *Related experience must include:
    • Minimum two (2) years' experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
    • Minimum two (2) years' experience in the development of legislation, regulation, policy and/or programs.
    • Minimum two (2) years' experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships and partnerships with industry, government, public sector, and other stakeholders.
    • Minimum two (2) years' experience providing advice to senior-level leaders, Executive, clients and/or stakeholders, including persuasively writing a range of documents/content.


Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience in leading and implementing strategic, collaborative partnerships with other government ministries, service providers, public sector entities, and external organizations.
  • Experience working directly with B.C.'s agriculture, food and/or seafood processing sectors and/or institutional foodservice sector.
  • Experience with school food initiatives and/or public sector institutional food services.

  • This position requires you to have a valid BC driver's license (minimum class 5), or an equivalent class driver's license from another province or jurisdiction within six months of start date.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
